Focus And Scope
Persahabatan Respirology Journal is an online and printed scientific publication of the Persahabatan General Hospital. The journal is published twice within a year (June - December). The journal is focused to present original article, article review, and case report in pulmonary and critical care medicine
The Persahabatan Respirology Journal publishes original research, reviews, case reports, and clinical studies related to the respiratory system. The journal covers a wide range of topics, including:
- Respiratory system and related diseases
- Pulmonary diagnostics and therapeutics
- Pulmonary rehabilitation
- Critical care and respiratory support
- Public health and prevention in respiratory medicine
- Multidisciplinary and translational research
Peer-Review Process
Manuscripts submitted to the Persahabatan Respirology Journal must be prepared according to the journal’s author guidelines and accompanied by a completed checklist form. Once received, the editorial team conducts an initial evaluation to ensure the manuscript meets the journal’s scope, formatting, and submission requirements. Suitable manuscripts are then sent for double-blind peer review, where both authors and reviewers remain anonymous to maintain objectivity. Each submission is reviewed by a minimum of two qualified reviewers, who assess the manuscript using a standardized checklist based on the article type (original article, review, or case report) and are expected to provide feedback within two weeks. The editor compiles the reviewers' comments and decisions, then sends them to the author for revision. Authors are given up to one week to revise and resubmit the manuscript. The editor then evaluates the revised version to make a final decision on acceptance or rejection. Accepted manuscripts proceed through copyediting, proofreading, and are published according to the journal’s publishing schedule. This peer review process ensures a fair, efficient, and high-quality editorial standard in the field of respiratory medicine.

This journal ensures that all published content is freely and immediately accessible, grounded in the commitment to enhance global knowledge sharing by removing barriers to research. We actively engage with our authors to choose the most appropriate licensing terms, with a focus on the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA) license to support open and collaborative use of scholarly work.
Plagiarism Statement
Every manuscript submitted to Jurnal Respirologi Indonesia undergoes a plagiarism check using Turnitin software. The journal maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism; any manuscript found to contain plagiarized content will be rejected outright.
Submissions are considered acceptable only if the overall similarity index is below 20%.

Publication Ethics And Malpractice Statement
Persahabatan Respirology Journal adheres to the ethical publishing principles outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), including the Code of Conduct and recommended editorial practices. Authors are required to confirm that all research involving human subjects or animals was carried out in accordance with applicable institutional and regulatory ethical standards. The manuscript must clearly state which institutions or ethics committees granted approval. Additionally, authors must include a declaration confirming that informed consent was obtained for any studies involving human participants. At all times, the confidentiality and personal rights of individuals involved in the research must be fully protected. The ethical responsibilities outlined here apply to all parties involved in the publication process, including editors, reviewers, and authors.
Duties of Editors
- Approval
Editors oversee the selection of manuscripts fit for publication, collaborating with the editorial board and peer reviewers to resolve any issues such as defamation, plagiarism, or copyright violations during the publication process. - Objective
All manuscripts are assessed fairly, focusing solely on their scholarly merit, without bias related to the author’s personal characteristics or beliefs. Editors must step aside if any conflict of interest exists. - Confidentiality
The identities of authors and reviewers must remain confidential throughout the review process. Editors are not permitted to grant author requests for reviewer changes without appropriate justification. Decisions and feedback should be communicated transparently, omitting any harmful or defamatory remarks. - Conflict of Interest
Unpublished materials from submissions must not be utilized by editors for personal research without obtaining prior written consent from the authors. - Ethical Standards
The editorial team upholds strict adherence to ethical guidelines, ensuring the originality and integrity of manuscripts and addressing any ethical issues or conflicts that arise. - Communication
Maintain open and clear communication channels among authors, reviewers, editors, and production staff to support efficient manuscript handling and timely responses. - Publication Oversight
Editors ensure that the publisher maintains the manuscript’s integrity and adheres to the agreed publishing schedule, preventing any unauthorized modifications.
Duties of Peer-reviewers
- Editorial Contribution
Peer reviewers play a critical role in the decision-making process by offering well-considered recommendations to the editors. They assist in evaluating the scientific quality, clarity, and ethical integrity of the manuscript, helping ensure that only high-standard research is published. - Constructive Feedback
Reviewers are expected to provide timely, clear, and well-documented written feedback that is unbiased and constructive. Their comments should focus on the strengths and weaknesses of the manuscript, offering suggestions for improvement without personal or subjective criticism. - Timeliness
Reviewers should complete their evaluations within the timeframe agreed upon. If a reviewer is unable to perform the review due to lack of expertise, time constraints, or other valid reasons, they must promptly inform the editorial office and decline the assignment. - Confidentiality
All manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers are not allowed to share, discuss, or disclose any part of the manuscript with unauthorized individuals without explicit permission from the editor. - Objectivity
The review process must be conducted impartially. Comments should be based on scientific reasoning and supported by evidence. Personal opinions unrelated to the content or personal criticism of the author must be avoided. - Source Recognition
Reviewers must identify any relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. If there is significant similarity or overlap with other published or submitted work, reviewers should notify the editors immediately. - Conflict of Interest
Reviewers must avoid evaluating manuscripts if there is any conflict of interest due to competitive, collaborative, financial, or personal relationships with the authors or affiliated institutions. Additionally, any information gained through the review process must be kept confidential and may not be used for personal advantage.
Duties of Authors
- Manuscript Integrity
Authors must ensure that submitted research is presented clearly, accurately, and in a structured manner. The data must be reliable and supported by sufficient references to allow reproducibility. Personal data, such as photographs or identifying information of research participants, may not be included without prior written consent and a clear scientific justification. - Originality and Citation Ethics
Authors are responsible for submitting only original work. If others’ ideas, words, or findings are used, they must be properly quoted or referenced. Any form of plagiarism, whether intentional or unintentional, is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate rejection or retraction. - Exclusive Submission
Manuscripts must not be under review, published, or submitted simultaneously to other journals. Submitting identical or substantially similar content to multiple publications is considered unethical and will not be tolerated. - Proper Attribution
Relevant sources that have significantly influenced the research must be appropriately cited. Acknowledging the contributions of previous work is essential to maintain academic transparency and give credit to original ideas. - Authorship Criteria
Only individuals who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study should be listed as authors. Contributors with more limited roles may be acknowledged appropriately. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all listed co-authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript and consent to its submission for publication. - Conflict Disclosure
All financial support and potential conflicts of interest that could influence the interpretation or outcome of the research must be clearly disclosed in the manuscript. Transparency in funding and affiliations is essential to maintain trust and objectivity. - Correction of Errors
If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, it is their duty to promptly inform the journal editor and cooperate in issuing a correction or retraction, as appropriate.
